COURSES TAUGHT
ADVISOR TO
SENIOR CAPSTONE
(60-page thesis)
“This course was expected to be really difficult and not fun. In fact, I was expecting a pain-staking, difficult semester. Dr. García somehow found a way to make this class engaging, enjoyable, and even fun! I think this is my favorite and best-taught course I’ve yet taken at Wooster. I learned so much this semester that is both deeply helpful to my major(s) but also to my general world view and personal growth. The content of the course is so important and I feel like more people should take this course, even non-majors. Dr. García is truly one of the most kind, safe, judicial, and engaging professors at the College and I truly feel my life has been changed after this course in the best way possible. Dr. García has a way of making the classroom feel safe and encouraging for all students to participate and enjoy. I feel like this class bonded and we laughed together every day because of the positive learning environment Dr. García fostered. I don’t have enough good things to say about the course and the professor!”

“I cannot emphasize the importance of this course to Wooster’s curriculum enough. Dr. Garcia is an intelligent, aware, empathetic and amazing professor, who exceeded my expectations with the ways she structured, taught, and supported the course. It was an intimately-set-up class that helped me become more comfortable with my peers and sharing my creative work, which is an experience any student can benefit from. My peers and I were from different majors, interests, and years, yet Dr. Garcia helped us connect through writing and fostered a supportive and engaging environment that was a consistent highlight of my semester. I cannot recommend this course enough and I truly want to re-emphasize how amazing Dr. Garcia is as a professor and person. Her presence and understanding of the world only add to her teaching and this course has truly been revolutionary for me as a student. The only feeling of regret I have is that I could not take more of her courses sooner. I would recommend this class to any student, regardless of discipline or interest, as it is truly that important. Please foster more courses like this at the school and understand Dr. Garcia’s strengths!! She is an amazing professor and Wooster will truly be enriched with her presence and grace.”
“This was one of the most thought provoking and life changing courses I have had the great fortune of taking. The course material and Professor Garcia’s instruction style will forever change the way I view the world and my own place within that world. In years to come when I am asked what moments have shaped my thinking and my life as a whole, I will reference this class.”
